The St. Malachy Prophecy

The Papal Prophecy of St Malachy is perhaps the most intriguing of the past 1000 years. Malachy was a Catholic Priest in the 1100's. His prophecy concerned the number of Popes from his day to the end of Popes, and the time of many tribulations.

The number of Popes given by St. Malachy is 112, extending from Celestine II to a Pope to come known as "Petrus Romanus." Pope John Paul II was the 110th Pope in the prophesied line of succession.

St. Malachy did not give a number of years until the end of the papacy. However, it must be noted that John Paul II was Pope from 1978 until 2005. His predecessor, John Paul I was Pope for approximately one month.

According to St. Malachy, the next Pope will be the last in papal succession. Any speculation as to the number of years the new Pope will serve, or at what time the tribulations will come during the reign of Petrus Romanus would be mere speculation.

On April 19, 2005 Joseph Ratzinger was elected as the 111th in St Malachy's list of 112. So far, St Malachy's prophecy has been accurate! Will Benedict XVI continue John Paul's dialogue with anti-Christian Muslims?

St. Malachy thought that the 111th Pope would be “Benedictine." The name of the 111th Pope on St. Malachy’s list of 112 is "Benedict XVI." That too may be prophetic. Please let me know your opinion concerning St. Malachy's prophecy.

Some are concerned that St. Malachy may be a false Prophet, and therefore his prophecy may be false. False prophecy is not a sign of a false prophet.

Malachy may or may not be a false prophet but that does not diminish the accuracy of his prophecy.  Speaking falsely is a sign of a presumptuous prophecy (Duet. 18:21-22).

Balaam is considered a false Prophet. However, what he spoke in prophecy was accurate. His heart was not godly, and that made him false.

Has your Pastor ever quoted the Bible when it says, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.” (Num 23:19a/NKJV)?

Or has he quoted the Bible,  "I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; a Star shall come out of Jacob; a Scepter shall rise out of Israel,…” (Num 24:17/NKJV).

If he has, your Pastor has quoted a false prophet, Balaam.  What made Balaam a false prophet was not his prophecies, they were accurate, but his heart was false.

The doctrine is Balaam is sexual promiscuity/misconduct. Is the Roman Church guilty of condoning and/or protecting those guilty of sexual misconduct?

While the current Pope may be a fine fellow, the history of the Roman “denomination” is one of murder, fornication, deceit, and greed for power.  The Pope is not infallible.  No infallible man, speaking for God could excuse the rape of children in the manner of John Paul II and his successor, Benedict XVI, have.

We also have no way of knowing how wide-spread pedophiliac priests have carried their practices within Roman Catholicism.

When the Southern Baptists in one state were faced with dealing with a Mexican Pastor who was a pedophile, they immediately co-operated with Police in stopping his reign of crimes against children.

To my knowledge, the RC is the only major denomination that has promoted those that condone pedophilia.

Until the time of the 112th Pope from Malachy appears we will not know if Malachy was a Prophet of God, a false Prophet, or a presumptuous speaker.

The RC has for centuries denied salvation by grace in favor of salvation by works.

Galatians 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (NKJ)

The teaching of Purgatory is a classic example of salvation by works.

As I said, I do not know if Malachy’s prophecy is true, but it is interesting.  It is my belief that we shall soon know the truth or inaccuracy of his words.  The papacy may soon end, but the Church of Jesus Christ will go on.

Trusting in prophecy is of little value. Trusting in Christ is of great value. Trust in Christ! He will provide the liberty you desire.
